Job AnnouncementsWinter Term/Spring Term Internship: Publications DepartmentThe Massachusetts Historical Society seeks an intern for the Publications Department. The intern will primarily assist with production of volume 2 of the Selected Journals of Caroline Healey Dall. A native of Boston, Caroline Dall (1822-1912) worked tirelessly in the Suffrage and Abolitionist movements, keeping a daily diary of her experiences. The intern will aid in fact-checking this thickly annotated manuscript. As a member of this small department, the intern may have the opportunity to become involved in other projects as they arise. The activities typically pursued in the department include desktop typesetting, proofreading, and production management. Students with an interest in learning about XML mark up for digital publication would also have the opportunity to take part in the ongoing work in that area. This internship is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in American history, women?s studies, or literature, looking for experience in historical research and in the publication process. The intern must already be able to research independently and know how to properly handle historical documents. Applicants must be graduate students or upperclassmen at the undergraduate level. The internship is unpaid; we are happy to make arrangements with students seeking course credit. Applicants should send résumés and cover letters to publications@masshist.org.
