Edwin F. Atkins
In this photograph, taken in 1923, Edwin Atkins is sitting in the gardens at Soledad, wearing a black armband on his left arm. Earlier that year, his second son, Edwin F. Atkins, Jr., was killed in a plane crash off Key West, Fla. along with his two sons. Atkins is probably wearing the armband in memory of their deaths.
