This journal, written by Middlecott Cooke in 1734, describes his voyage to St. George’s Fort near what is now Thomaston, Maine. Two versions of this journal exist, a less-polished 6-page first version and a more-detailed, 7-page version (shown here). This second version does not contain information found in the first version, notably the final four sentences about the journey. [Robert E.
