Samuel Eliot Morison attributed this early embroidered view of Harvard hall at Harvard College to Mary Leverett Denison Rogers, the daughter and grandaughter of Harvard presidents. The Latin motto found on the embroidery is from Virgil. It reads, "They keep out drones from these premises."
The Historical Society holds important collections for teh history of education in Massachusetts and had published Biographical Sketches of Graduates of Harvard University ("Sibley's Harvard Graduates") since 1873.
