Samuel Bowman writes to an unknown recipient, probably Samuel P. Savage, explaining why he is unable to purchase and maintain a slave named Pompe, 14 October 1752. Savage was the chairman of the Massachusetts Board of War during the Revolution, and a follower of the evangelical preacher George Whitefield.
