This miniature portrait of Elizabeth Freeman ("Mumbet") was painted by Susan Anne Livingston Ridley Sedgwick in 1811. The painting shows Mumbet wearing a typical Federalist period dress as well as the golden beads that are now part of the Massachusetts Historical Society's collections. (See the online presentation of the bracelet made of gold beads from Mumbet's necklace).
