Collection Summary
Biographical SketchMason Sears was appointed United States representative to the United Nations Trusteeship Council by President Eisenhower in 1953. He continued to visit Africa through the fifties and sixties in a variety of capacities with the UN. He wrote the book Years of High Purpose: from Trusteeship to Nationhood (University Press of America, 1981). Prior to that he had graduated from Harvard, served in the both world wars, the state department, and the Massachusetts State Legislature. Acquisition InformationGift of David Sears, 1997.
