Object of the Month

This month's Object of the Month is the only extant copy of a remarkable three-page pamphlet, written by Boston merchant and magistrate Samuel Sewall (1652-1730). The Selling of Joseph was the first anti slavery tract published in New England. Click here to see the Object of the Month.

MHR Receives AASLH Commendation

The American Association for State and Local History has awarded the MHS a Certificate of Commendation for the Society's annual journal, The Massachusetts Historical Review.

Abigail's War

The MHS is pleased to offer a free, primary-source-based activity book for elementary-school-age students. Based on Abigail Adams's letters, the self-contained, 57-page booklet strengthens students' language arts and mathematical skills as they learn about the American Revolution.
