4. Capt. Benjamin Beale, a Braintree native, and his English-born wife settled in the {p. 422} Squantum district in the 1780s, but built a home just west of the Adams' Old House in 1792, which still stands. Their sons Benjamin Jr. and George were good friends of the Adamses well into the nineteenth century.
