8. JA's father, Deacon John Adams, had died in May 1761. Under the terms of his will, dated 8 Jan. 1760, and proved on 10 July 1761 (JA, Papers
), Susanna Boylston Adams was to receive one-third of the income from the Deacon's estate, and one third of his personal estate. JA and his brothers, Peter Boylston and Elihu, received particular bequests of real estate, and were expected to support their mother from the income of those bequests.
