7. The exchange between Maurice Riquet de Caraman, who had traveled to America {p. 311} with the Marquis de Lafayette, and Anne Willing Bingham, a native of Philadelphia, occurred at Lafayette's home on 7 March (JQA, Diary , 1:230).
