, above. He dedicated the volume to Hugh Percy, 2d duke of Northumberland (1742–1817), who had commanded British troops at Boston from 1774 to 1776 despite his personal opposition to the war (
). When Soulés published a second edition of the work in Paris in 1787, he expanded it to four volumes; a copy of this later edition, with JQA's bookplate, is at MQA
