3. On 30 March 1780, soon after his return to Paris, JA purchased a copy of Jean Domat's great treatise on civil law, Les loix civiles dans leur ordre naturel ..., nouv. édn., 2 vols. in 1, folio, Paris, 1777. It survives among his books in the Boston Public Library.
