1. CFA saw his bust, evidently completed, in New York the following June; see entry for 29 June 1826, below. Browere’s busts from life masks of JA and JQA (and other celebrities of the day) are now in the New York State Historical Association at Cooperstown, but that of CFA was lost around the turn of the century. It is illustrated in Charles Henry Hart, Browere’s Life Masks of Great Americans [N.Y.], 1899, facing p. 54.
