Morning at home, Hallam, Ben Jonson, Horace, Odes, letters to my Grandfather and George,1 evening, Company, my father, the Stars and Comet, up till late.2
1. Both letters are missing.
2. CFA and JQA were up until 1:00 a.m. watching Saturn and the Great Comet of 1825, which was brightly visible until the middle of October (JQA, Diary, 19 Sept. 1825; J. Russell Hind, The Comets, London, 1852, p. 159).
