Periodicals
The Massachusetts Historical Society produces several periodical titles and acts as a co-sponsor for The New England Quarterly. Our periodical titles include:

Annual Report

The Annual Report, printed each spring, includes the yearly progress reports of each of the Society's departments: Administration, Library, Publication and Research Programs, the Adams Papers, and The New England Quarterly. The document also contains useful appendices and selected memoirs. Copies are available for shipping cost from the Publication and Research Programs office at publications@masshist.org.

The Massachusetts Historical Review

Introduced in fall 1999, The Massachusetts Historical Review is the Society's annual journal. Once a year, it brings readers essays rich in narrative and thoughtful analysis, as well as photo-essays, historical documents, and review articles. To find out more about subscribing or submitting a manuscript, please go to our MHR web page.

Miscellany

The Society's newsletter, the Miscellany, contains announcements about the Society, its programs, important manuscript acquisitions, grants and awards, and the activities of its staff. Issues usually appear each fall, winter, and spring. Paper copies are available free of charge. For a single copy or to put your name on our mailing list, please send in the publications order form or provide your mailing address to the Publications Department at publications@masshist.org. You may also acquire copies of most back issues.

The New England Quarterly

The New England Quarterly, published continuously since 1928, is America's leading historical review of New England life and letters. Each book-length issue features major articles in the fields of history, literature, and culture; brief memoranda and recently discovered documents; and a substantial book review section. To find out more, please visit the NEQ website. The New England Quarterly receives vital support from the Massachusetts Historical Society, Northeastern University, and the Colonial Society of Massachusetts.

Proceedings of the Massachusetts Historical Society

From 1859 to 1997, the Proceedings captured the dynamic intellectual achievements and contributions to historical scholarship of the Society's members and friends. Each issue includes annual reports that chronicle the Society's activities, as well as documents and essays that illuminate the Society's collections and New England history. Each volume through 1997 is individually indexed; four cumulative indexes cover (1) volumes 1-20 of the first series, 1791-1883; (2) volumes 1-20 of the second series, 1884-1907; (3) volumes 41-60, the third series, 1907-1928; (4) and volumes 61-80, no series, 1927-1968.

Volumes 70-109 of the Proceedings and the last two cumulative indexes are available from Northeastern University Press. You may order using the order form on its website by following he link. Please keep in mind, however, that since the MHS distributes its books through a variety of sources, not all Society titles will be available from Northeastern.

Numbers preceding volume 70 of the Proceedings may still be available from the Society. Please contact the Publications Department at publications@masshist.org to find out. You may also purchase microfilm of the Proceedings.
