- N.B. Original is an ALS, 3 p. and address, tipped in JA's copy of Cerisier's Grondettige Herstelling ..., Amsterdam, 1785–1786, at front of vol. 2; see Cat. of JA's Library, p. 46. In vol. 2, JA copied the text on two sides of a front fly leaf.
- In January 2012, this document was reaccessioned from MB, and was found to be two versions of the same letter: the RC, and a copy made in JA's hand, both in French. The six-page photocopy filed is with LHB's transcripts of the same under this accession # 8973. --SEG, 1/3/2012
