- Note by Ford at head: "Jany 1822," probably the date when JQA (among whose Letters Received. 1821–1822, the transcript was filed) obtained it. But see memorandum by Benjamin Waterhouse with the original, on how his wife (Louisa Lee Waterhouse) found the letter. Waterhouse probably sent or lent the letter to JQA, 9 May 1827; see Waterhouse to JQA of that date (CDF).
