- Letter does not exist in transcripts following JA to Thomas Barclay, 4 Nov. 1788. Slip was apparently created in error when internal address of JA to Benjamin Rush, 2 Dec. 1788, was mistakenly read as greeting of the following 3 Dec. 1788 letter, which is actually to Thomas Brand Hollis. Note that it is the 2 Dec. letter to Rush that is printed in JA, Works, 9:556-557. Corrected by HPW, June 2009.
