  • ADAMS (JOHN). Second President of the U.S.; Signer of Dec. of Independence; etc. A VERY FINE and extremely rare full A.L.S.--in full "JOHN ADAMS", contained on I page, 4to., PHILADELPHIA, JUNE 3, 1797"; to JOSIAH QUINCY, with a autograph endorsement of Quincy on back. This letter was penned by Adams a few weeks only after assuming the Presidency and is of the finest contents and value. This letter, if offered at a public sale, would fetch at least $125.00 to $175.00. Adams is very rare in an A.L.S.—and EXCESSIVELY SO in a letter of this contents. This letter has never been offered for sale heretofore, and is UNPUBLISHED.:
  • "We are much obliged to you for the opportunity to read the letter of 13. of Feb. from C— Thomas, which I now return. The paragraphs USEFUL to the PUBLIC, were JUDICIOUSLY PUBLISHED. Mrs. Adams desires me to wish you much felicity in your present and future connections.
  • "The H(ouse) of R(epresentatives) HAVE AT LENGTH DETERMINED ON THEIR ADDRESS AND TODAY AT TWELVE I AM TO REPLY TO IT.
  • "THEY DISCOVERED AT LAST THAT THERE WAS GOOD AMERICAN BLOOD BLOOD AND CLEAR AMERICAN ACCENTS, IN THE HOUSE". etc. etc.
  • ° A wonderful letter alone; for a set of Presidents; for a set of Signers.
