- Archival Note: William Smith Shaw is probably the nephew to whom AA addressed this letter, because of the mention on p. 2 of "when you go to Atkinson" (i.e. to see his mother, Elizabeth Smith Shaw Peabody) and the comment on p. 3 "you mend in your Hand[writing]," a topic frequently mentioned in correspondence between AA and William Smith Shaw.
