- 143 Adams (John Quincy) A. L. s., 1/2 page, 4to [St. Petersburg], 8 February, 1814, to Levett Harris, American consul-general, asking him to forward a letter to the United States by the first safe opportunity
- Endorsed by Harris: "Recd. just before my departure to join Mess. Gallatin & Bayard at Berlin and London". Gallatin and Bayard, with two others, negotiated the Treaty of Ghent which was signed on 24 December of this year and ended the war between the United States and Great Britain.
