- Archival Note: Rensselaer addresses himself to "Miss Brooks," so if the recipient was ABA this letter must antedate her marriage to CFA on 3 Sept. 1829, hence the dating of this letter. However, the actual date may be 1827. CFA mentions social events "at the French Minister's" on 13 and 27 January 1827 (DCFA 5). ABA was in Washington January-March 1827 (see D/CFA/5).
