- Diary, 13 Feb. 1778 - 26 April 1779, and transcripts of JA's early diaries, 1755-1759, made under the supervision of JQA and corrected by CFA.
- Microfilmed. Original diary entries on Reel No. 2; transcripts on Reel No. 3.
- Original diary entries, 1778-1779, at p. 3-103 [should be 105]. Copies by JA of French letters to him, May-Sept. 1778, evidently copied as exercises in the French language, p. 263-273. Accounts with Franklin, May-Sept. 1778, inside back cover.
- The transcripts of JA's "Journal Fragments," 1755-1759, are at p. 105[should be 107]-262, 274. For the circumstances of the transcription, see JQA's memo at head of volume and also his "Rubbish," vol. 1, under date of Nov. 1829, where copyists' names are given as T. B. Adams, Jr., and W. C. Greenleaf.
