The fifth annual Cocktails with Clio took place on 7 November 2014, and was met with much enthusiasm among our supporters. Following an elegant cocktail reception at the Society, we adjourned to the neighboring Harvard Club of Boston for dessert and a lively discussion with Pulitzer Prize-winning author, historian, and MHS Fellow David Hackett Fischer. The audience was captivated with stories from Prof. Fischer’s distinguished career teaching and writing about well-known historical events. He shared how MHS collections have influenced his work over the past 50 years and revealed to the audience some of his current and upcoming projects.

Previous Clio guests include National Book Award-winning author and MHS Overseer Nathaniel Philbrick; National Book Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning author and MHS Fellow David McCullough; scholar, cultural critic, host of PBS series “Finding Your Roots,” and MHS Overseer Henry Louis Gates, Jr.; and political commentator, author, and MHS Overseer Cokie Roberts. Our guests continue to comment on how much they enjoyed the intimate format of the program and the overall celebratory atmosphere of the evening.
