Abstract

152 cartes de visite and 1 tintype photograph of the inter-related Coolidge and Lowell families and their acquaintances, as well as Civil War-era soldiers, officers, and politicians.

Collection Description

Cartes de visite, many unidentified, of family members and friends of the inter-related Coolidge and Lowell families. These photographs were once stored together in an album, which has since been discarded. The collection also contains a number of identified cartes de visite of Civil War officers, soldiers and politicians. Massachusetts photographers include John A. Whipple, James W. Black, F. L. Lay, A. Sonrel, and G.K. Warren.
