This collection consists of photographs relating to Brookline, Mass.
Collection Description
This collection consists of photographs relating to Brookline, Mass., collected by Dr. Joel Shield, comprising both original and copy photographs and glass plate negatives. Loose photographs are arranged in broad categories including buildings, churches, hospitals, schools, streets (businesses and dwellings), transportation, and portraits. The towns of Allston, Brighton, Chestnut Hill, & Jamaica Plain are also represented. Portraits depict individuals and groups associated with Brookline, including members of the police and fire departments and students, as well as unknown individuals photographed by Brookline photographers. The collection also includes family photograph albums compiled by Brookline residents Lepine Hall Rice, Adeline and Robert Dana, and Gustaf and Elsie Lundberg. Photographers represented in this collection include Thomas E. Marr, Henry A. Stanley, S. N. Wood, and many others.
