In this diary entry Samuel Savage records that Capt. Preston and all but two of his soldiers were acquitted and that Ebenezer Richardson, charged with the killing of an 11-year old boy in a skirmish that occurred eleven days before the Massacre, "will have another tryall." Savage also seems to have added a note-in July of 1771-that more than a year after the events, Richardson was still in jail and his trial was still delayed.
