An embroidered satin scarf, made from fabric taken from a coat given by the Vicomte de Rochambeau to his friend, Capt. Park Holland, during the American Revolution.

The Marquis de Lafayette, a longtime friend of George Washington, helped procure for the Americans the assistance of the French general Comte de Rochambeau (1725-1807) during the Revolutionary War. The Vicomte de Rochambeau (1755-1813), served as an aide-de-camp to his father, spending the winter of 1781-1782 in quarters at Williamsburg, Virginia.
