Bostonian David Hall's diary entries for 11 and 18 March 1770 each make mention of the Boston Massacre. Writing six days after the event, he calls what transpired "striking news" and a "Dark day." Seven days later, the news was "not Just as we heard. yet not less affecting," illustrating how difficult it was to gather, report, and makes sense of the events
