This document communicates the law passed by the Massachusetts House of Representatives and approved by the Council and Lieutenant Governor Spencer Phips on 3 November 1755 declaring people of the Penobscot tribe to be enemies, rebels, and traitors. Bounties like these constituted an official order, which offered colonists monetary payments to hunt, capture, kill, and scalp Indigenous people.
