Jefferson received the news of the death of Lucy Elizabeth (b. 1782), his second daughter
by that name, in a letter from James Currie, 20 Nov. 1784, which was received on 26 Jan.,
carried by Lafayette (Jefferson, Papers
, 6:186; 7:441, 538–539).
None has been positively identified.
