5. VII:45. Weary and dissipated from the strenuous idleness of yesterday— Answered a Letter however, yesterday received from Coll: Aspinwall, requesting a further order upon the Baring’s of £500 on account of Seamen— Sent him the order. Answered likewise the Letter from Mr Edward Perkins at Bristol. And continued the endeavour to redeem the Journal.— Walk to Ealing and Acton, and returned by the way of Gunnersbury. George brought home this Evening the piece which he is to declaim at the ensuing exhibition. It is the Speech of Mr Pitt for the repeal of the Stamp-Act— We also read several passages from some of Burke’s Speeches. No Letters this day received.
