- 1 ADAMS, JOHN. President. Early Autograph Endorsement Signed, three lines, closely penned in bottom margin of portion of a partly printed D.S. of Ezek. Goldthwaite, legal clerk, oblong narrow 8vo. Boston, September 18, 1769. Writ of attachment, against which Adams has penned a denial as counsel for the defendant: "And the said Benjamin comes & defends & deserving Liberty of pleading anew at the Superior Court, says the writing declar'd is not his deed, John Adams." Several small marginal tears (passing through two words of Adams' writing) and slightly ink-smudged (affecting the "a" of Adams' signature), but otherwise in very satisfactory condition. Although the document is incomplete, Adams' endorsement is complete in itself. (130.00)
