If you have any of it left, and could let me have a dozen pounds of it, I should be very glad.” Regarding a vacancy at a consular post at Bordeaux, Adams says, “I have so great a regard and esteem for Mr. Rogers that even without your recommendation nothing could give me greater pleasure than to have it in my power to serve him...”
