- This is Caleb Cushing's file of papers in this case in U.S. Circuit Court, District of Massachusetts, tried in May term 1861. Cushing was Johnson's attorney. Case grew out ofJohn Quincy Adams's will, of which CFA was executor, and arose from fact that Johnson's wife ( , 1828–1859) predeceased her mother, Mary
