- 1 Jan. 1827 - 13 May 1828 (mostly rough daily entries, some quite full).
- 28 Oct. 1831 (single full entry, loosely inserted).
- 5-9 Nov. 1833 (full entries).
- 29 April, 27 Aug.-8 Nov. 1833 (daily entries, mostly quite full).
- 22 June-14 July, 19 Oct. 1834 (full daily entries).
- 1-31 Dec. 1835 (full daily entries).
- 4 Jan. 1836 - 24 Dec. 1847 (scattering entries, many quite full).
- The memoranda are of a very miscellaneous character: a surveyor's traverse (n.d.); lists of vegetables, flowers, and fruits (laid in loose); visitors' lists; poems; lists of JQA's published writings, 1787-1844; travel expenses, April, Nov. 1833; Congressional election returns; lists of persons to whom JQA's publications were sent; minutes on Congressional business; list of portraits of JQA, 1783-1838; population statistics (1844); members of 23d Congress. At end is a quotation ("Fair Lady, thou of human life...") dated 20 Feb. 1848.
